Warren Collierís service with the firm dates back to 1999, including his years with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with BlackRock in 2009. At BGI, he was the Chief Operating Officer for BGI in Canada and Latin America, where he was responsible for designing, developing and implementing an operational management strategy for BGI's businesses in Canada and Latin America. He was also a member of BGI's Global Legal Leadership team with responsibility for the legal teams outside the US and UK. Prior to his current role, he was the COO for BlackRock's Latin America and Iberia business and, most recently, COO for the US iShares business.
Before his time with BlackRock, Mr. Collier was in private legal practice focusing on the investment management industry at a leading Canadian business law firm. He also served as the first lawyer with a leading Canadian mutual fund group, In addition, Mr. Collier was the Chair of the Government Relations Committee of the industry organization representing portfolio management firms in Canada. He has also served on various other industry and on ad hoc committees established by key regulators to advise on regulatory and industry initiatives.
Mr. Collier earned a BA degree in political science from York University in 1991 and his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1994.
